I learned recently that making sauerkraut at home can be easy and fun!
Fermented foods are a great source of beneficial bacteria, they can be
fun and taste great! This winter I hosted a class with Luna Hart
here at Alder Brooke where we made the most delicious and colorful
sauerkraut. Mmm, love this stuff! It is easy to make and
delicious on a salad, crackers or just on its own. I had thought
in the past that it was difficult to make, easy to mess up and should be
left up to the professionals. I had made a huge batch a couple
years before with my good friends at the River Road Second Hand
store. Of course at their house they had the fancy crock and the
press and big bowls with big beating wands. We chopped for hours
before we beat the goods for hours. That batch had juniper
berries, peppers, carrot and cabbage along with a variety of
spices. It seemed easy enough to make but too much of an ordeal to
repeat at home.
This go round, following the step by step instruction of Luna Hart, I
learned how simple, quick and fun it can be to make smaller more
manageable batches with the tools I already have in my kitchen.
No special equipment required, just a sterile glass jar, a big bowl,
cabbage, salt and an hour of my time. You can see from the photo
below that I chose purple cabbage. I mixed it with green cabbage,
grated some carrots and ginger to give it a little extra goodness, but I
have since learned that the cabbage all on its own is good
enough. All you have to do is save a full leaf of the cabbage then
cut the rest of the cabbage (try to make it all about the same size),
put it in a bowl with salt and massage it with your loving hands until
the juices are flowing. Then add it to a glass jar placing the
cabbage leaf you saved on top and tucking it under so it can hold in the
juices. You want the liquid to cover the top leaf by about an
inch. That is it! Place a weight on top to keep the juice
above the cabbage. I used a filled up glass water bottle.
Then I placed it in a cupboard for about a week. I checked it the
first couple of days to ensure the water was still an inch above the
goods.
After about a week my kraut is jarred and ready to enjoy!
"Dragon's Blood" Super Tonic
It may look like a witch's brew, but this fabulous blend of
super herbs and veggies will knock your socks off with its powerful kick
and give your immune system a super boost!
This is my first super tonic brew made of
lots of blended onion, garlic, burdock root, horse radish root, tumeric,
jalapeno, cayenne pepper plus grated ginger root and beets. After
I took this photo, I added a gallon of apple cyder vinegar to my mix.
Just a little love too. After 7 days l strained it and bottled it
to share. This is my natural antibiotic, anti viral, anti fungal, anti
parasitical, immune support, digestive support and vampire fire. I am
sure it will fend off the boogie man too. _______________________________

I am still glowing and reflecting on the month of March where I was
grateful to get to spend a few weeks at Kona Gold, on the big island of
Hawaii. I had the joyous opportunity to teach some amazing
students while soaking up the beautiful island sun, swimming with turtle
friends, and watching whales.
While I was there I also had the wonderful invitation to speak with
Benjamin Cohn at Island Naturals, sponsored by the Women's Federation
for World Peace "Creating a Culture of Heart", about detoxification and
digestive health.
The class was very well attended with over 50 people joining us for this informative talk.
I not only enjoyed sharing my expertise in digestive health and
wellness, I learned a lot about detoxification from Ben and I also
gained many new clients, If you are interested in reading the notes from
this class, CLICK HERE.
It has certainly been a beautiful spring, and I look forward to the rest
of this year and what it may bring. Here's wishing you beautiful island
dreams.

Also, I've mentioned my father before in previous newsletters, and the
effect he has had on my life and my business, so I wanted to share with
you my story of the experience he went through at the end of his life.
This story I share with you is to provide you with some insight into one
person's experience with the medical system and battling what has
become a very common disease in our world today, cancer. Of course this
experience truly changed my life not only just through the loss of my
father, but also with the growth of my passion for understanding illness
and healing as well as medical treatments.
Please

Fun with Students at Kona Gold
When I have students at Kona Gold, it is always an enriching experience
for all of us. This time was no different. I was joined by Luna Hart,
Pauahi Kamakau, and Maria Japolsky who were all attaining their I-ACT
Foundation certification through Alder Brooke.
We held classes outside in the warm air. While whales blew, jumped and
breached in the ocean below, we learned history, theory and indications
for colon hydrotherapy as well as human anatomy and physiology.
